Custom Gift Boxes, Made in America
Most custom box manufacturers will not quote you under a thousand units. Ours starts at a hundred.
A hundred boxes is a product launch. A client gifting program. An influencer send, a founders' gift, a first retail run. It is a real number for a real business — and it sits below the floor almost every box manufacturer in the country will talk to you about.
Ours are made in America, built to your product rather than pulled from a stock catalogue.
What we make
Rigid boxes. The heavy, structured box a luxury product arrives in. Magnetic closure, or lid and base. This is the box people keep.
Chipboard boxes. Lighter, more economical, and still yours — printed, sized and finished to your brand rather than bought off a shelf.
Sizes are built to the product. There is no size chart here. You tell us what is going in the box, or send us the product itself, and we build the box around it. Most people do not know their dimensions when they first call, and that is fine — working them out is part of the job.
Minimum order is 100. Lead time is approximately six weeks from design approval.
Why American-made boxes cost more
An overseas box quote and an American box quote are not the same product priced differently. They are different purchases.
The overseas number assumes a container. It assumes you will order thousands, wait six to eight weeks for an ocean crossing, and hold the inventory yourself until you need it. Tariffs are yours. Freight is yours. So is the risk that the sample you approved and the pallet that arrives are not the same box.
Ours are made here. That means American labor and American board, and it means no ocean crossing inside your lead time, no tariff exposure, and no thousand-unit floor. It also means that when a proof is wrong, we fix it in days rather than seasons.
Compare the landed number, not the unit number. Freight, duty, the cash tied up in a quantity you did not need, and the weeks you cannot get back — put those in the column where they belong and the gap narrows to something most buyers are glad to pay.
Why a small run costs more per box
Before a single box is made, someone has to build the tooling: a cutting die in the shape of your box, printing plates for your artwork, and a press set up and colour-matched to your brand.
That work costs the same whether you are making a hundred boxes or ten thousand. On a large run it disappears into the unit price. On a small run it does not — so the per-box number looks high, and buyers assume they are being penalised for ordering less.
They are not. They are paying for the setup, once.
Which is why the honest advice is usually this: order the quantity you will actually use, not the quantity that makes the unit price look good. A cheaper box sitting in a storage unit for three years is not cheaper.
What to expect
1. Tell us what you are packing. Dimensions if you have them, the product itself if you do not.
2. We quote. Box type, finish, quantity and your in-hands date all move the number, so the more you tell us, the faster the quote is real rather than a range.
3. Artwork and design. Bring your own, or we design into your brand.
4. Proof and approval. Nothing goes to press until you have said yes.
5. Production. Approximately six weeks from design approval.
The date that matters is your in-hands date. Tell us that first and we will tell you honestly whether it can be made.
Made to match
Boxes are rarely the whole job. We print custom gift wrap in rolls in the same building, along with ribbon printed to match, enclosure cards, hang tags and belly bands. One brand, one colour standard, one supplier.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum order for custom boxes?
One hundred. Most custom box manufacturers will not quote below a thousand units, so a hundred is unusual — it means a product launch or a client gifting program can have boxes of its own without committing to inventory it does not need.
What sizes do you make?
Sizes are unique to each box. There is no stock size chart — we build the box around your product. Tell us the dimensions, or send us the product, and we work it out from there.
What kinds of boxes do you make?
Rigid boxes with a magnetic closure or a lid-and-base construction, and chipboard boxes. Rigid is the structured box a luxury product arrives in and the one people keep; chipboard is lighter and more economical, and still printed and sized to your brand.
How long does a custom box order take?
Approximately six weeks from design approval. Quoting and artwork happen before that clock starts, so tell us your in-hands date at the beginning and we will tell you honestly whether it can be made.
Why do American-made boxes cost more than imported ones?
Because they are a different purchase. An overseas quote assumes container quantities, a six to eight week ocean crossing, and that tariffs, freight and inventory risk are yours to carry. Domestic production removes the crossing, the tariff exposure and the thousand-unit floor, and a wrong proof is corrected in days rather than seasons. Compare the landed cost, not the unit price.
Why does a small run cost more per box?
Because the tooling costs the same either way. A cutting die, printing plates and a colour-matched press setup have to exist before the first box is made, and that work is identical whether the run is a hundred boxes or ten thousand. On a small run it does not disappear into the unit price. You are not being charged more for the box — you are paying for the setup, once.
Do we supply the artwork, or do you design it?
Either. Bring your colors, your logo and your artwork, or we design into your brand and show you proofs. For design-led projects, start with an email rather than a quote request.
Can you print gift wrap and ribbon to match the boxes?
Yes. Custom gift wrap in rolls, ribbon printed to match, enclosure cards, hang tags and belly bands — made alongside the boxes to one colour standard.
Are you certified for supplier diversity or federal contracting?
Yes. Nifty Package Co. is woman-owned, WBENC certified and WOSB certified, and registered in SAM.gov — so corporate supplier-diversity spend and federal set-aside requirements are answered before you ask.
